ENQUIRE

Diweddariad Coronafeirws / Coronavirus Update

Annwyl gleifion,

Mae’r Prif Swyddog Deintyddol, ar ran Llywodraeth Cymru, wedi caniatáu i wasanaethau deintyddol symud i gam ambr sydd yn e’u galluogi i ddarparu mwy na triniaeth brys i gleifion.

Er mwyn sicrhau amgylchedd diogel i gleifion a staff rydym wedi rhoi mesurau yn eu lle sydd yn ymateb i ofynion pellhau’n gorfforol a rheoli heintiau. Byddem felly’n gallu gweld llawer llai o gleifion na’r arfer mewn clinig, gan gychwyn gyda’r rhai sydd angen triniaeth brys ac wedi cysylltu’r deintyddfa gydag anghenion deintyddol dros y misoedd diwethaf. Wedi hyn byddem yn darparu mwy o wasanaethau deintyddol gan gynnwys gweld y cleifion a gohirwyd eu hapwyntiadau driniaeth.

Ar gychwyn y pandemig ataliwyd ‘gweithdrefnau cynhyrchu aerosol’ megis drilio, apwyntiadau hylendid, a llenwi danedd oherwydd eu bod yn creu chwistrell. Mae’r driniaethau yma dal ddim a’r gael yn y practis ar hyn o bryd. Mae driniaeth o’r fath yma angen lefel uchel o ‘PPE’ a ni chaniateir defnyddio’r ystafell am gyfnod hir wedyn. Mi fydd hyn yn cyfyngu’r nifer o driniaethau yma y gallwn eu cynnig. Rydym yn gobeithio i dechrau darparu y driniaethau yna cyn bo hir. Yn y gyfamser, ar ôl asesu a sefydlu angen, gallwn atgyfeirio cleifion i Ganolfannau Deintyddol Brys.

Yn ystod y cyfnod hwn byddwn yn parhau i gynnig gwasanaeth ‘Triage’ sydd yn cychwyn gyda thrafodaeth gyda deintydd dros y ffôn, ac yna asesiad wyneb i wyneb a thriniaeth os allwn ei ddarparu.

Er mwyn sicrhau eich digelwch bydd mesurau ychwanegol yn eu lle yn y deityddfa pan ymwelwch â ni nesaf. Ewch i’r dudolen ‘COVID Update’ ar ein gwefan am fwy o wybodaeth.

Diolch am eich amynedd a’ch cydweithrediad yn ystod y cyfnod hwn.

Dear Patients,

Further to our previous notifications, the Chief Dental Officer for Wales, has allowed dental services to move to the Amber phase of de-escalation. In this phase, dental practices are be able to provide more than just urgent care and treatment for patients.

As Covid-19 is still in circulation, practices need to ensure that measures are in place to ensure a safe environment for staff and patients. Because of physical distancing and infection control requirements, far fewer patients can be seen in a clinical session, and dental teams have been asked to prioritise so that those patients who need care more urgently are seen first. The group of people who have experienced problems during lockdown will be offered assessment and care first. Thereafter, a fuller range of care can be provided, with priority being given to people who need treatment, including those who have had dental care delayed because of the pandemic.

Many dental procedures, such as fillings or scaling, use high-speed drills and other tools which are “aerosol generating” – this means they create spray. This, in the current pandemic, could risk spreading of the virus and that’s why dentists were asked to stop these activities for the time being. Guidance and Operating Procedures have been issued by the Welsh Government, detailing the high-level PPE that will be required, including Fit Tested High Filtration masks. They also require a long period of ‘down-time’ (fallow time) for the surgery that was used between each “aerosol generating procedure”, which will therefore severely limit the numbers of these procedures we will be able to provide. At present ‘aerosol generating procedures’ are still unavailable at the practice, but we are working on being able to provide a limited amount soon.

We remain open and seeing patients during our usual surgery hours, with dentists available to triage and discuss concerns with you over the phone initially, and then to decide if an in-practice assessment will be beneficial. If so, the assessment would be arranged for you, followed by treatment if it is something that we can currently provide. If an “aerosol generating” treatment is required, referral to an Urgent Dental Centres can be completed, subject to meeting their acceptance criteria.

To keep things safe for everyone and ensuring that physical distancing is observed, you will find things different when you next visit us. Please visit the COVID UPDATE page on our website to find out what to do prior to attending, and what to expect on your next visit to the practice.

Thank you for your continued patience and support during these times.
